Description:

The Claims Specialist is responsible for the filing and collection of freight loss and damage claims. The Claims Specialist interacts with and assists internal partners, including SBU s, Legal Counsel, Procurement personnel and Field Representatives. In addition, the Claims Specialist interacts with and assists external suppliers, primarily motor, rail, ocean, and air carriers. This International Claims Specialist position will support the Global Cargo Claims Program (GCCP) and be responsible for the filing of international cargo claims and also provide coverage for the domestic claims desk.

Accountabilities:

Key Result Areas

1. Timely filing of claims.
2. Timely follow-up with the person(s) filing the claim to ensure all information has been captured.
3. Continued follow-up with the Carrier to remind them of the outstanding claim(s).

Key Accountabilities/Duties

* Evaluate, file, and track loss and damage claims against carriers.
* Maintain loss and damage claims database.
* Define and publish monthly claims performance metrics.
* Escalate claims recovery effort.
* Document claims and maintain adequate files, and
Perform other duties as assigned by the Logistics Services Mgr or Account Manager.
* Assist external users to effectively and efficiently use the Claims Internet web-site database.

Qualifications:

Required Education

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in the claims management field

Experiences

Working in large databases, problem resolution, good communication skills, both written and verbal

Skill Sets

Strong Computer skills word, power-point, Excel, Database Mgmt skills. Attention to Detail, Time Mgmt

Language Skills

Good communication skills both verbal and written

Required competencies

Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task

Desired competencies (nice to have)

1 to 2 years claims experience
