Job Description

The Great Rivers Affiliate of the American Heart Association is recruiting to fill an outside sales/fundraising position in our Newark office.

This position is an implementer level opportunity as the Director Heart Walk. The main priorities of the Director are to solicit corporate dollars for sponsorship through cultivation of large corporations and high net worth individuals, upgrading existing customers, prospecting and cultivating new accounts and development of a volunteer leadership team. You will be expected to be on the road 90% of your day in your territory networking, building relationships, in sales meetings and cold calling on businesses.

Successful candidates have a background in face to face sales or fundraising, great networking skills and have successfully sold sponsorships at the $5,000 to $50,000 level. You will be expected to meet monthly and quarterly sponsorship dollar pipeline goals in order to achieve your fundraising goal of $350,000. Strict adherence to best practice and event timelines is required.

Required Experience

1. Minimum of 2 years experience in fund raising or outside sales position that involves building and maintaining sales relationship, OR
2. Bachelor''s degree in related field or supplemented with additional work experience
3. Possess strong selling and negotiation skills.
4. Knowledge and demonstrated ability to successfully identify, cultivate, recruit, and maintain relationships with top level volunteers from identified companies.
5. Demonstrated skills in fundraising or successful outside sales.
6. Proven ability to understand and navigate corporate cultures to achieve goals.
7. Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication at all organizational levels.
8. Ability to plan and conduct meetings.
9. Valid driver''s license, proof of at least minimum state required automobile liability insurance and ability and willingness to travel as position demands.
10. Ability to work outside standard hours as needed, including occasional evenings and weekends.
11. Ability to use Microsoft products, computer software, run reports and maintain accurate data.
12. Satisfactory background checks including consumer credit, motor vehicle, and criminal history.
