Description:
The Coatings/Pigments Development Specialist job exists to support the development/formulations/technical service efforts at the client Newport site. The position functions as a technical resource to trouble shoot any customer issues with procedures outlined in the PIG-P0001 Document. This position also exists so that the successful candidate is an active team member to help grow the NAFTA coatings business by responsible interaction with other team members and customers.
Candidates short listed are required to take the DDI test when they are requested for an interview at the site.
Requirements & Responsibilities
This is an entry level laboratory position. Ideal candidate will have 6 months to two years of experience in the laboratory in product development/application of pigments in paints for architectural coatings. A BS degree in Chemistry/Biology is preferred. A good attitude and willingness to learn is a must for this position. Must be self motivated in order to succeed in this fast-paced work environment.
o Technical work developing formulations, record keeping and data entry, supporting customers.
o Evaluation of non-conforming product samples, with resolution.
o Technical work in support of internal product or application developments.
o Fully support the Group Leader in the day-to-day operations to achieve the goal of customer satisfaction by pigment evaluations in the area of specialization.
o ISO-9000 Standards: Knowledge of ISO standards and how this applies to Client's quality process. Ability to make revisions within the quality system, report quality incidents, and to follow corrective actions to completion.
o Teamwork/Collaboration: Working effectively with team/work group or those outside the formal line of authority (e.g., peers, senior managers) to accomplish organizational goals; taking actions that respect the needs and contributions of others; contributing to and accepting the consensus; subordinating own objectives to the objective of the organization or team
o Safety Awareness: Being aware of conditions that affect employee safety and following all company guidelines and rules of conduct.
